Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In the summer of 2025, my mother in law Sheila passed away following a very difficult year for all our family. Throughout this time, she faced her challenges with determination, never lost her sense of humour and made the most of every moment. For part of this difficult period, Sheila was cared for by the incredible team at East Lancashire Hospice. The team provided sensitive care and support not just for Sheila, but for the whole family. Without fundraising activities, the Hospice would be unable to provide this much needed and valuable service.
Sheila loved holidays and weekends away, and we all have many happy memories of our times in the Lake District. For this reason, running one of the hilliest marathons in the United Kingdom seemed like a great way to raise some money for the Hospice. The route of the marathon will take me past numerous hotels where we have enjoyed staying.
This will be a huge personal challenge for me. Although I do run regularly, and have completed marathons previously, I’ve never done one with so many steep hills or in the middle of summer!
We never know what is around the corner and when we will need access to specialist care and support. The work of East Lancashire Hospice really is fantastic for families who are experiencing very difficult times and they could not do this without charitable donations.
If you feel able to make a donation, all of our family would be ever so grateful for your support and kindness.
