Walking the West Highland Way for VOCAL, 1 September 2023
We work with unpaid carers to provide them with support & information

Story

Like many others we find it hard to take care of our loved ones when they get older, and caring for someone with alzheimer's can be particularly challenging.

It is for this reason that I will be walking the West Highland Way on the 1st of September in support of VOCAL - Voice of Carers Across Lothian. This charity has helped me and my mam a lot by providing us with really useful information to help with organising care in readiness for the future and also helping to facilitate a short break, which we hope will let my mam remember all her happy moments from her younger years in where she grew up in Beauly.

The West Highland Way is one of the toughest walks in Scotland with harsh terrain, rapidly changing weather and a total distance of 96 miles. The route leaves from Milngavie (North of Glasgow) to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.

Any support you can offer in fundraising for this wonderful charity would be much appreciated.

About the charity

VOCAL supports around 10,000 unpaid carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian. We work with carers to plan & deliver individually tailored support including work with other agencies, referral to benefit, health, legal & power of attorney surgeries & a range of training & lifestyle management opportunities.
