Story
I have taken part in Ride for Helen for a number of years now.
I normally sign up for the 30 mile circular route as it remains challenging for an amateur cyclist like me.
This year though is very different. I received my 2nd cancer diagnosis in January this year with a couple of surgeries already in 2024.
This is also the year I turn 50 on the 12th of May - coincidently the same day as the Ride for Helen event. My oncologist has given me the ok to participate again this year.
In recognition of this I think it is only fair I push well outside my comfort zone - so I have signed up for the 50 mile route on my 50th birthday. I can't think of a more rewarding way to celebrate reaching this milestone.
Funds raised will allow the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity to continue to support men and women with all types of cancer at all stages; newly diagnosed, throughout and post treatment, as well as their wider support network of family, friends and carers.
