Cotswolds Walkathon · 7 June 2023

SWFT Charity's Young Minds Appeal aims to provide all-new facilities to MacGregor Children's Ward at Warwick Hospital to ensure all of our young patients experience a safe and engaging environment during their care.

Story

The Graftongate team will be completing a 26 mile walk through the Cotswolds on Wednesday 7th June 2023.

Starting in Chipping Campden, the walk will take our team through the North Cotswolds finishing near Stow on the Wold.

The funds will go towards helping the Young Minds Matter Appeal which aims to equip the MacGregor Children's Ward at Warwick Hospital with all new facilities. The appeal is part of the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund.

The plans include a new playroom, an adolescent recreational area and a sensory area, all of which will ensure a safe and engaging environment for our young patients. There are also plans for a bereavement suite/quiet room which will serve as a vital space for those unfortunately experiencing devastating news, and will also allow parents some respite from the busy ward.

The project was prompted by the increase in young mental health patients admitted to the ward since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic The redevelopment will give staff the tools and resources they require to support these patients, as well as creating age-appropriate areas for all children spending time on the ward.

To make the ward the best it can be, we are launching a £350,000 fundraising appeal. The money raised will go towards enhancements that the NHS are unable to provide, such as play
