Dublin Marathon 2026 · 25 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Run the 2026 Dublin Marathon for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Story

As many of you will know, my dad (Trevor) was diagnosed with a form of familial frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Parkinson’s disease around eight years ago. While the Parkinson’s has slowly taken away his ability to move and care for himself, the main symptom of the rare strain of dementia has been the development of primary progressive aphasia (affecting his ability to speak, reason and communicate with others).

This year I will be attempting to run two marathons (Belfast and Dublin) along with at least five half-marathons in order to raise money for Alzheimer’s UK, who do vital research on all forms of Alzheimer’s and dementia (including FTD).

The half marathons will include at least five of the following (Dundalk, Naas, Clondalkin, Newry, Hillsborough, Antrim Coast and Belfast).

The money raised provides direct support to people whose lives are affected by dementia. Anything you can donate will make a difference to those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Thank you for your kind donation. It will make a difference.
