Story

In 2021 I decided to set myself a series of cycling challenges to mark my 60th birthday, but mainly thanks to Covid, it spilled over into 2022 and 2023. After completing some of the challenges (including inTenerife and the Alps), I have now come to the longest and the only one for which I am seeking sponsorship. RideLondon-Essex 100 is a 100-mile (160km) ride that starts from the Victoria Embankment in London and goes through Epping Forest and other parts of Essex before returning to London and the finish line on Tower Bridge. Cycling 100 miles is equivalent to running a marathon, and will take me about seven hours. I am trying to raise money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) because my daughter, Holly (who has twice completed RideLondon 100 herself), is a Type 1 diabetic, and I know from experience about the great work this charity does, not just in research, but also in helping individuals (particularly young ones) tackle this challenging condition.
