Harlow to Clacton Bike ride · 19 July 2025

We provide a weekly drop-in for the homeless and vulnerably housed in Harlow, providing a hot meal, hot drinks and snacks, and a warm welcome and friendliness.

Story

Three years ago, we faced the heartbreaking loss of a beloved family member. This individual was a true character, known for their fierce loyalty to family and friends. Unfortunately, they encountered difficult times, and addiction and homelessness became significant challenges in their life. During this period, they were supported by various groups and charities, one of which stands out: the Chocolate Run in Harlow.

This incredible organization offers vital support to the street homeless and those vulnerably housed across Harlow. They work tirelessly throughout the year, providing a drop-in facility on Sundays at the GPCA. Here, they offer food and drink, as well as a safe space for individuals to talk about their struggles. The dedicated teams provide mentoring and support, helping visitors connect with other organizations that can further assist them in overcoming their challenges.

The impact of this charity was profound during our loved one's most difficult times. The invaluable work they do is essential for many of the most vulnerable individuals in Harlow. In memory of our cherished family member and to honor this remarkable local charity, I am joining other riders to cycle 60 miles from Harlow to Clacton, culminating at the beachfront by the pier.

We are aiming to raise £1,000 to support the ongoing efforts of this amazing organization. Your contribution can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help ensure that no one has to face their struggles alone.
