Story
Each year we set ourselves the challenge of raising money for very worthy charities. Given our recent history with the Chocolate Run and the fact that it is so close to our hearts we have decided to once again set off on an epic challenge to raise funds for this extremely important and worthy local charity.
The Chocolate Run facilitate weekly drop ins for people that are homeless or vulnerably housed in Harlow. They were an excellent support to our family member Greg when he fell into difficult times. They are also a charity that my mum volunteered for many times over the years.
Charlie and I will be completing our annual ride to Clacton in July and in addition to this we will be challenging ourselves to complete the London to Paris bike ride.
Over four days, we will cover 315 miles, cycling from London to Paris. Our adventure starts in London and takes us through the picturesque English countryside, moving from Kent to Dover. After reaching Dover, we cross the Channel to Calais, marking the beginning of our ride in France. From Calais, we continue ‘French style’, keeping to the right, as we follow tranquil country roads and pass through charming market towns. The scenery unfolds with the lush green hills of Northern France, and we encounter significant landmarks such as the war memorials and cemeteries of the Somme.
The Grand Finale
As we approach the final stretch, anticipation builds with the iconic Arc de Triomphe and the renowned Champs Elysées guiding us into Paris. The journey culminates at the Eiffel Tower, serving as our triumphant finish line. Though the days spent cycling may be demanding, the sense of accomplishment upon crossing the line and celebrating in this remarkable capital city makes any saddle soreness fade quickly, replaced by a lasting feeling of pride and euphoria as well as hopefully raising significant funds for the Chocolate Run!
Please get behind us and help us to reach our targets over the next six months.
Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated
