Story
We're walking the bridges of London with our children and other family members on June 14th in memory of our brother-in-law and uncle to the boys Tom Bendy.
Tom left us all far too soon after a sudden illness and will be deeply missed by all, especially Bek, Harry, Josh and all of his family.
An Ode To Mr B
Pragmatic to the core, he'd quietly see
How life, and council chaos ought to be
A raised brow, a gentle steer, a calm reply,
And suddenly everything felt clear
At home he hosted with effortless ease.
Cold drinks chilling outside in the breeze.
His 'outdoor fridge', a masterstroke told
In true Mr B fashion: 'never knowingly undersold'
A Star Wars fan with a pianist's grace
Understated talent in both hands and face
He taught Harry the keys with patient pride
Letting music become their gentle, shared stride
And when the galaxy rested and the piano slept
The games came out - a world he gladly kept.
Joshua follows him there - level by level
a quiet echo of his dads calm rebel
He loved his gadgets - the brighter the better -
that super torch could guide a jetsetter
His electric car? A quiet delight.
gliding along, clean, calm and light
Most weekends he stood pitchside, steady and warm
cheering his children through sunshine and storm
At the table though, his modesty froze -
Prawns and smoked salmon were the things he chose
Blink and thev vanished - swift. unseen -
A seafood raid executed with quiet routine
A beer or a Guiness he'd savour with care
Always sensible, steady, fully aware
Stubborn in the best way - gentle, sure -
A soft spoken soul whose kindness was pure
A wonderful partner, devoted and true
Beks calm constant in all she'd do
He'd do anything to make her happy, of course..
well - anything except camping, by force!
A Norfolk man in Essex, he'd smile at the
sound of his children picking up the local background
He loved them for it, every word, every tone -
For home was simply wherever they'd grown.
We'll miss that warm presence, steady and strong -
That's how we'll remember Mr B, all along
Any donations greatly received in support of this charity.
Thanks
