Graham & Angus's Arctic Expedition for It's Good 2 Give

Arctic Ski Expedition · 22 February 2025
A week before Christmas 2011, my 6 year old daughter, Tabby, was admitted to the "Sick Kid's" Hospital in Edinburgh and diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia. Tabby spent the following 3 Christmas's in hospital. She endured two and a half years of chemotherapy and all that it entails, along with multiple, repeated hospital admissions. In the summer of 2014, Tabby was given the "all-clear".
Throughout this time It's Good 2 Give provided wonderful support for Tabby and the Lawson family. Since then, we have we have taken part in a wide range of challenges and events to "give something back" and raise funds for this incredible charity. Indeed having become a Junior Ambassador for the charity, Tabby is now a Trustee with It's Good 2 Give.
So what are we doing this time?
In February 2025, brother-in-law Angus and I are embarking on a self supported ski trek around the Urho Kekkonen national park in north east Finland - 300 km north of the Arctic Circle.
We will be cross-country skiing, towing a pulk (sledge) with all our equipment and provisions. Over six days, we hope to complete a 100km route - sleeping in wilderness huts as we go. Expected temperatures will range from -5 to -35C.
It’s Good 2 Give is committed to supporting young cancer patients and their families. They recognise the struggles that patients and families face during, and after, cancer treatment. That’s why they offer both physical and mental support to get them through this difficult time — from practical patient packs to a peaceful escape to the stunning Ripple Retreat. With your support, they can continue to deliver on this promise to support young patients across Scotland.
