Story
In 2020 - just before lock-down - I ran my first half marathon. I hated it. It was a road race and I had become obsessed about running it in a certain time. The training was dull and the race killed me. Instead I decided to try trail running - no time constraints and an infinite number of routes in the beautiful UK countryside. Last year I entered the 25km 1,000m elevation Ultra Trail Snowdon. I loved it. But it was hard - I crawled over the line 2 minutes under the cut off time in 5 hrs 28 mins. This year I have upped the challenge and entered the 55km 3,000m Ultra Trail Snowdon race in May 2024. Two climbs up Snowdon, followed by another 2 massive climbs - all within 14 hours. It is a massive challenge for me and I am doing 18 weeks of training (mostly hills!) to help me complete the event. I will be posting regularly on YouTube and Instagram so that you can track my progress!
I’ve suffered my own share of mental health issues over the years. So I would like to use this as an opportunity to raise some money to support young people in my home county.
The Eikon Charity is helping young people feel safe, heard and supported. It provides support to young people who are experiencing difficulties. Growing up in today's world can be incredibly challenging. Listening, understanding and giving support for challenges early can often stop problems from becoming much bigger - Eikon believes every child deserves to feel safe and heard.
Please give generously so Eikon can help more young people. Thank you.
