Graham Murdo is raising money for Friends of ANCHOR

We support people in the north of Scotland who are affected by cancer or a blood disorder. Working hand-in-glove with the NHS, we take care of the ‘big little things’, and we fund cutting-edge equipment and research. Every penny makes an impact as our operating costs are covered by Balmoral Group.

Story

I am trying to raise money for "Friends of ANCHOR" (Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy) to help their fantastic work in supporting patients and staff from Aberdeen's ANCHOR unit.

Over recent years I have had the misfortune of losing my dad, younger brother and two younger cousins to the ravages of cancer despite the tremendous efforts and support from the Anchor team to help them battle their illness.

The support from medical staff and volunteers has been and continues to be amazing and anything that can help them to continue assisting their patients and their families when battling illnesses like cancer is fantastically worthwhile.

Although their valiant efforts for the family members mentioned above was ultimately in vain I do credit them for the fact that I still have a baby sister.

The fantastic care support and treatment supplied by the Anchor team is the reason that my youngest sister, Fiona, is still with us after a diagnosis of breast cancer. She is now over 5 years cancer free but still continues to receive support from Friends of ANCHOR and in turn tries to support them in return.

I cannot express how grateful I am to them for the support my family has received over recent years and the support they still offer to both my family and the families of others.

I would be extremely grateful if you would consider helping me to support this wonderful charity and the work they do in the North of Scotland by making a donation (and getting the chance to see me having all of the hair being shaved off me!)
