Graham is running the Hackney Half for Tommy's

Graham Parkins is raising money for Tommy’s, the pregnancy and baby charity

Hackney Half Marathon 2026 · 17 May 2026 ·

Tommy's funds medical research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and miscarriage. We’re dedicated to finding causes and treatments to save babies’ lives as well as providing trusted pregnancy and baby loss information and support.

Story

I'll be honest with you — I run a half marathon most weeks. The distance isn't the challenge. If you're looking for someone dragging themselves around their first 13.1 miles, heroically fuelled by jelly babies and crowd support, I'm not your guy.

What IS a challenge is trying to run it fast. I'm chasing a PB at Hackney, which means months of structured training — threshold sessions that make you question your life choices, intervals that leave you bent double in a car park, and long runs where the last three miles feel like they're happening to someone else. My coach Becky makes sure of that.

But here's the thing. None of that is why I'm asking.

Tommy's exists to stop the heartbreak of baby loss and make pregnancy safer. If you've been lucky enough never to need them, you almost certainly know someone who has. Charlotte and I have our own reasons for caring about this, and I suspect many of you reading this do too.

So this isn't "sponsor me because I'm doing something hard." This is "I'm running anyway — help me make it count for something that matters."

Every donation funds research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. It funds answers where right now there are too many shrugs. It funds support for families in the worst moment of their lives.

Whatever you can give — genuinely, thank you.
