Story

I was diagnosed in August 2022 with a very rare neuroendocrine cancer called an insulinoma. This has metastasised to my liver and the NHS have informed me that I am currently incurable, inoperable but treatable with conventional medicines. I'm classed as stage 4 and grade 3A. The insulinoma is a functioning tumour that causes the body to produce excess insulin, leading to dangerously low blood glucose that can result in coma and death. I have undertaken 6 rounds of oral chemo and more recently a procedure called TACE to address a 'rogue' tumour in my liver that decided to 'kick off'.

When I was diagnosed I went on a mission to learn about the disease, treatments and prognosis. Whilst I have accepted the diagnosis I have refused to accept the prognosis and have taken a mind, body and spirit approach to my healing alongside conventional medicine. My complimentary approach has included: meditation, reiki, energy healing as well as an organic and whole food diet, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), IV Vitamin C, CBD oil, supplements and off label meds to name a few.

The cost of the complimentary therapies has been as much as £4k per month, which has taken its toll on my savings, pension and business account. I have only managed to work part time whilst I have undergone treatments, which again has had a detrimental impact on income.

As a result of the above I am now reaching out to my network of family and friends on my mission to beat this cancer and get to NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE (NED) or at least to prolong my life for a good few years. I've still got so much to do and see and I'm determined to see the continued growth of my three children, George, Harry and Katie. I'd love to be a grandfather one day, but that is of course out of my hands and my kids don't seem to be in too much of a hurry. Come on you three....... lol

I also have a bucket list of activities I'd love to do and at the top of the list is bagging all the Lakeland Fells known as the Wainwrights. But I must heal first or at least stabilise the disease in the short term.

In order to heal and add a good few years to my clock I will require funding to support my complimentary therapies but also to support potentially going overseas for treatments that currently aren't available in the UK or are restricted to private patients. Options include Germany, Switzerland and India. I suspect £48000 will be insufficient funding over the longer term, but it provides me with an opportunity to get the ball rolling in terms of new and complimentary treatments. All money raised will be used for treatments and therapies. Thank you in advance for your generosity and feel free to share my story with your own friends and family. Every penny helps.
