Matthew's fundraiser for UK Youth

Matthew Wood is raising money for UK Youth
Founded over 100 years ago, UK Youth is a leading national charity that exists to ensure all young people aged 9-25 are equipped to thrive and empowered to contribute at every stage of their lives. UK Youth provides young people with life skills, delivered through a network of youth organisations.

Story

UK Youth is a leading charity working with an open network of over 8000 youth organisations and nation partners. They influence as a sector-supporting infrastructure body, a direct delivery partner and a campaigner for social change.

UK Youth’s new 2025 strategy, “Unlocking Youth Work” outlines a bold ambition to impact young lives by unlocking youth work as a catalyst for change. We will work in partnership to build a cross-sector movement, creating a society that understands, champions, and delivers effective youth work for all.

The Issue

In Warrington, the Gravity trampoline park is the last domain where older kids can unwind, play, and simply be themselves. As a parent and community member, I have seen the joy and camaraderie it has fostered among our children. For many, it's more than just a place to jump around—it's a haven for friendships, a retreat from academic pressures, and a place where teenagers can burn energy in a safe, monitored environment.

As urban development presses on, recreational spaces for older children are rapidly disappearing, leaving them with few, if any, places to engage in healthy activities. The elimination of Gravity Warrington would only exacerbate this issue, resulting in less community connection, more idle time that can lead to negative activities, and a loss of local economic contributions from visiting families.

Statistics show that recreational areas like trampoline parks are critical for the physical, mental, and social development of teenagers. According to the UK Youth and Social Statistics, young people who participate in organized recreational activities are 30% more likely to avoid risky behaviours and have a stronger sense of community belonging.

We urge the local authorities and stakeholders to keep Gravity Warrington open. Perhaps there is a way to collaborate with local businesses or apply for grants dedicated to youth recreation funding, ensuring that such a cherished venue remains intact for our younger generations.

Allowing Gravity to thrive supports not just our children, but our entire community. It keeps our youth engaged in constructive activities and stops the economic strain that losing such a staple would bring. Please sign this petition to demonstrate how vital Gravity Warrington is for our town’s future.
