Story

🌄 Sunrise Trek for Grayson – Supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice. 🌅

In June, we will be taking on the Acorns Sunrise Trek of Pen y Fan in memory of our beautiful son Grayson, who passed away in August 2022 due to Vanishing White Matter Disease. Grayson’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, courage, and moments of pure light 🌈, he was our miracle. This trek is our way of honouring him step by step, sunrise by sunrise while supporting the charity that supports families like ours when we needed it most.

Why Acorns Children’s Hospice?

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist care for babies, children, and young people with life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions, as well as vital support for their families. Their work is compassionate, skilled, and life‑changing.

Some of the incredible things Acorns does include:

- Providing holistic, specialist care for children with complex health needs, life‑limiting, or life‑threatening conditions — both in their hospices and out in the community.

- Supporting families emotionally and practically, helping them navigate the most difficult moments with dignity, empathy, and expert guidance.

- Delivering care and support services funded largely by donations, with over £8.85 million of their income coming from charitable giving — meaning fundraisers like this truly keep their doors open.

- Creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child is valued, and every family is supported, guided by strong values of compassion, equality, and wellbeing.

Acorns is not just a hospice — it is a lifeline. Their teams walk alongside families through the hardest journeys imaginable, offering care, respite, and moments of peace.
