Cancer is an illness that impacts 1 in 2 families, and it is a reality that many have faced. Here on the Wirral, we are fortunate to have a world-class cancer treatment hospital right on our doorstep; however, they still require our support. Between 2018 and 2019, one of our family members received life-saving chemotherapy at Clatterbridge Cancer Unit. We were among the fortunate families who witnessed the joy of ringing the bell at the end of treatment, and today, they remain in remission.

For the past three years, we have participated in the Wirral Coastal Walk to support Clatterbridge Cancer Charity (CCC) and have proudly taken part in the Glow Green Walk. This year, I am excited to announce that we are organising a family-friendly 3km walk called the Great Green Walk for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity on Sunday, July 13th, 2025. The event will take place at Brimstage Courtyard, conveniently located just a stone's throw away from Clatterbridge Cancer Unit.

The Great Green Walk will feature five starting times for families to embark on an enjoyable and easy-going walk: 11:00am, 11:30am, 12:00pm, 12:30pm, and 1:00pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before their chosen start time. The walk is designed to take approximately 45 minutes to complete, allowing ample time for everyone to enjoy without feeling rushed. Along the route, there will be stewards present as well as a fun quiz with prizes generously donated by local businesses such as ELC and Rockaway Toys.

We are not setting a target amount for fundraising; instead, we invite you to make a suggested donation through this link or via QR code. We recommend a £5 donation per adult participant and £2.50 per child. When making your donation, please indicate how many adults and children will be attending in the comments section so we can prepare medals accordingly.

All children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult on the walk.

In keeping with our green theme for this event, we kindly ask participants to wear something green on the day of the walk. Additional donations are always welcome; please reach out if you would like a sponsorship form for your children to take to school or share with friends.

The day will also feature children's activities such as face painting and craft stalls in the main courtyard along with boutique gift shops open for visitors. Refreshments will be available alongside children's entertainment and raffles throughout the event.
