Story

Why are you Fundraising for TLG? Tim Says “Truth is I’m not a runner! I can manage a 3 mile jog, but 13.1 miles is a whole different proposition. By the time this year’s Great North Run happens, I’ll be 56 years old, so it feels like it’s now or never!. What will make the difference is that our three sons, Ben, Josh & Dan, and our niece Evie, have agreed to run too! We’ll start together. They’ll finish well ahead of me, but knowing that we’re in this together, will make a massive difference. And your sponsorship will help make the pain worthwhile, whilst making a huge difference to children and young people through TLG”

Transforming Lives for Good support children and families struggling with emotional and mental health, journeying with them from crisis to fullness of life through local church.

There is a growing mental health crisis among young people. Currently, 1 in 5 children have a probable mental health condition-NHS England. Unfortunately, public services are massively oversubscribed, the average wait time for a young person to get mental health support is 392 days-NHS. Transforming lives for Good supported 4,803 children in 2025, through 1:1 Early Intervention coaching session and Make Lunch clubs providing: community, belonging and meals that matter.

Personally, I first recognised the need in young people first-hand 27 years ago, when TLG began in Bradford.

When I run and it starts to hurt, I’ll be thinking of children like Ollie. Before he started TLG Early Intervention coaching, he found life at school stressful and hard to cope with. He had resorted to self-harming, scratching his hands to the point where they became scabbed over. “I was pretty worried about my mental condition.” Then Ollie started having Early Intervention coaching sessions 1:1 with a volunteer coach from his local church. Now Ollie feels a lot more supported: “Through coaching, I started to feel differently. I would feel happier and just generally being able to talk about my feelings felt really good, and then was improving my mental state.”

Our goal for this fundraiser, is to raise £1091 to support an additional 1,091 children through TLG’s various programmes. Our goal in 2026 is to prevent mental health struggles becoming worse, by increasingly equipping the church to respond to the crisis for children and families.

Thank you for your continued support and for giving 1091 additional children a hope and a future.
