Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On June 19, 2015 I discovered what it was like to receive the ultimate gift from a stranger and their family. At 5am in the morning, after spending 4 months on life support in Wythenshawe Hospital, I awoke to be told that a heart had been found to replace my severely damaged one. Later in the day that life saving operation took place. Without that operation and without that incredibly selfless decision to donate the organ I so desperately needed, my story might have been so different. So, it is with the utmost thanks, that I pay tribute to all those families who have donated vital organs to enable so many like me, to have a second chance to fulfil their lives.
Five grandchildren later and here I am, taking part in a 200mile + cycle ride to celebrate my 10th Heartiversary in June in order to raise funds for the New Start Transplant Charity. Such funds enable Wythenshawe to purchase much needed equipment towards the whole process of transplantation, as well as supporting patient and family during and after their time at the hospital.
All donations would be extremely welcome and if anyone out there would like to support us in person, feel free to cheer us on during our ride.
