We are fundraising for the Gaza Sunbirds, a paracycling team based in the Gaza Strip. This fundraiser allows us to track our efforts as the Milwaukee chapter of the Great Ride of Return.

The team is currently providing emergency food parcels and aid to families sheltering around the Gaza Strip.

Description from the Gaza Sunbirds:

While a few refugee team members continue to train abroad, those in Gaza have been unable to ride at all—forced to respond to a growing humanitarian crisis under fire. So far, we’ve delivered over $520,000 of emergency supplies and services. Our team also works with partners like HEAL Palestine, Amos Trust, ACS Italia, and World Central Kitchen to deliver even more resources to people who need them. Due to consistently facing challenges such as limited access to supplies, transportation and risk of being hit by airstrikes, these missions have never been more difficult to coordinate.

Amos Trust holds and manages donations on our behalf, ensuring every contribution is delivered and audited with care. All aid-related funds go into Amos Trust’s accounts, ring-fenced to ensure they’re used as intended. Proceeds from this fund are utilized to support our athletes, staff, and all of our aid missions.

We never set out to become aid workers. But when crisis hit, we knew we wouldn’t turn our backs on our people. We’ve done everything we can to keep going, funding this work week by week, mission by mission. Now, we’re reaching our limits. Some of us have lost over 35kg. And still, we’re out there: cooking meals, delivering clean water, securing vegetables, and showing up for families who have no one else.

This is an emergency aid fund, we don't know how long it will keep going for, but if for any reason our ability to provide support on the ground were to end, then they will ensure that all funds are used for future Gaza Sunbirds cycling projects.
