Fulham Reach Boat Club is a community focussed Boat Club that has a vision of Rowing for Everyone. Specifically, we work with 14 local state schools, five prisons, 200 members from the local community as well as providing holiday time courses for children from low-income families.

Story

What we are doing:

The Great River Race is London’s River Marathon. Three hundred boats covering 21.6 miles from Millwall to Richmond.

Thank you for supporting us and the charity.

Why we are doing it:

Our motley crew of brilliant women are coming together to stretch and support each other and raise money Fulham Reach a charity whose vision is 'Rowing for All' to help people realise their full potential both on and off the water.

Meet the crew:

Heather Stanning, Emily Penn, Jess Eddie, Sophie Hosking, Zoe Stanton, Claire Michelet, Mary Rose Cook, Bonnie Posselt

Our motivations for taking part:

To continue mini adventures, challenges and friendships I've taken up during 18 months abroad.

Every few month I need another challenge or adventure and this one fit with my move back to the UK.

"A great excuse to spend more time back on the river!"

To get back into some watery adventures after having a baby!

I love water based sports but have never considered taking up rowing. A 21 mile race seemed like a good way to try it out!

I can't say no to an adventure (and this one is especially exciting as I've never rowed before ...)

Always up for an adventure!
