Story
Thirty-Two Miles. Twelve Hours. One Day.
The Great Saunter®, Shorewalkers epic urban hike, is a 32-mile physical and mental challenge that celebrates individual effort and an ever-changing city. Each year on the first Saturday of May, the Saunter brings 2,500 walkers together to circumnavigate Manhattan, staying as close to the shoreline as possible.
This year, another group of intrepid adventurers will be taking on the Great Saunter challenge. Their connection? John Bullough.
John founded The Thunderbird Project in 2022, to empower emergency service drones for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations to deliver life-saving surveillance and aid equipment.
John tragically passed away in May 2023, but his family and friends are determined to continue his remarkable initiative and guarantee that it becomes a lasting testament to his legacy. To that end, 40 of John’s close family and friends are coming together in New York on Saturday 4th May to take part in the Great Saunter challenge on behalf of this great initiative .
