Sponsored Danceathon · 10 July 2025

The Greenleaf PTA is a small group of parents and teachers who work together to raise funds to support the school by paying for things that the school couldn't otherwise afford, such as visits from authors and artists, and upgrades to play equipment.

Story

On Thursday 10th July the children will be dancing their socks off, getting into the groove and having lots of fun in our sponsored dance-a-thon. Money raised will go towards further enriching the playground, OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) and well-being.

Playing is an essential part of the school day. At Greenleaf, we recognise the interconnection between play and learning, development, health and happiness. Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child states every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural activities.

Through their play, children encounter, explore and make sense of the world around them, as well as their place within it, they will test out ideas, apply them in the physical world, and make learning and discovery real. When playing, children utilise their entire body and exercise every part of their mind. Crucially, playing is both self-motivating and entirely driven by children’s own interests and that of those around them.
