Story
Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
So many people are impacted by dementia and Alzheimer’s; something both our families have felt. Growing up watching the lengths that family went to, to support our loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia will stay with me forever. It taught me endless kindness, accepting and patience are critical.
Every step of this walk we will be doing with Grandma Mary in mind - Ben’s inspiring 96 year old Grandma (who up until recently would have insisted she could Trek too!). Her recent diagnosis of dementia doesn’t stop her from sharing all her stories and memories, but we know it makes each day a little more challenging.
It’s safe to say this will be a challenge for Ben and I. Having had our second daughter last year it’s been a long time since we have set a physical challenge like this. (Yes we went for 26 miles of “very tough” terrain). We’ll be dusting off of walking boots and posting updates soon!
