Memorial Cycle Ride

50th Anniversary Memorial Cycle Ride · 10 September 2024 to 15 September 2024 ·
Thank you for supporting me as I take part in the 50th Anniversary Memorial Cycle Ride supporting Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club & St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Thankfully Dad didn’t get on the plane home that day, but for the other 18 members of the first team squad their family and friends weren’t so lucky………
On March 3rd, 1974, Turkish Airlines flight crashed and in total 346 people perished in the tragedy, including 18 of Dads teammates from the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club first team. This had a huge impact on the rugby club but also the whole town community as 10 local women had been widowed and between them, they had 19 children who were now fatherless.
50 years on, I will be cycling from Ermenonville Forest (the crash site), France, back home to Bury St Edmunds RUFC.
We will be riding the 624km between 10th September – 15th September 2024.
All donations raised will go to Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club towards the development of a new all-weather pitch for all age groups and St Nicholas Hospice Care funding two community nurses. (60/40 split respectively)
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU
Greg
