Guinness World Record Attempt - Furthest Distance Pulling a Vehicle in 24 Hours · 30 August 2025

Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, we continue to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. We know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, we help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

Story

Hi, I’m Greg Dunnings — a proud veteran of the Coldstream Guards and now a full-time firefighter with Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service.

In 2009, while serving in Afghanistan, my life changed in an instant when I was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED). Since leaving the military, I’ve made it my mission to give back to the communities that supported me — both during my recovery and throughout my career.

Over the years, I’ve taken on some brutal challenges to raise funds for military and local charities — from running a 100-mile ultramarathon to carrying a rowing machine across the Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks and even rowing non-stop for 24 hours. Now, I’m about to take things to the next level.

On 30th August 2025 at 13:00, I’ll be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the furthest distance pulling a vehicle in 24 hours — aiming to beat the current record of 32 miles.

I’m doing this to raise money for three amazing charities close to my heart:

SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity, who provide lifelong support to veterans and their families.

The Fire Fighters Charity, who do incredible work caring for the mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing of fire service personnel.

The Coldstream Guards Charity - Giving assistance to all ranks of the Coldstream Guards, both past & present, their wives, widows, children and other dependants.

If you can spare a donation, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world. Let’s make this challenge count.

Thank you for your support.

– Greg
