Story

Hello everyone!

We, (10 of us in total) are taking on this exciting challenge – running the Great North Run! Our mission is simple: to raise funds and awareness for a cause that’s incredibly close to all of our hearts. We have got together a group of 10 athletes all wanting to attempt the GNR and also wanting to raise money for this fantastic charity.

As a group, we have chosen to raise money on one just giving page and have an overall group total! We are one team and will fund raise together!

The charity we are fundraising for is the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). This amazing charity provides a life-saving helicopter emergency service, delivering rapid medical care to people in critical need across the North of England. Every day, they save lives, and their work is truly extraordinary.

Taking part in the challenge is Gregg Walling who completed the GNR in 2025 whilst raising money once again for the GNAAS. Also coming back for the 2nd year is Craig Sowewrby who along with Gregg raised over £3000 for the GNAAS. First timers for the GNR this year include Gregg's son Lewis, Danny Dryden, James Moore and his son Finn. We've also got some lads from Network Rail attempting the run for the first time, along with Gregg, these lads include Pete Bell, Mike Foster and Matt Lane. Then finally, Greame Holdsworth has got a place through the ballot and has chosen to raise money for the GNAAS and fund raise as part as our team. All 10 of us will be doing fund raising events throughout 2026 to the build up to the run in September. Some fund raising events include a speakers evening with guest speaker John Hartson in April, a 10km fun run from Allonby to Maryport and a charity football match to name a few.

Whether it’s a donation, a share, or a simple word of encouragement, every little bit helps. Your contribution can make a real difference in someone’s life, and together, we can ensure GNAAS continues to provide its vital services to those who need it the most.

Thank you so much for your support!
