Story
When I was younger, I was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus after suffering from a brain haemorrhage at six months old. Hydrocephalus is a condition that causes an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain’s ventricles, causing harmful pressure on the brain tissue. Spina Bifida is a condition that is a congenital neural tube defect where a baby’s spinal cord and vertebrae do not develop or close properly during early pregnancy, creating a gap in the spine. Both conditions are chronic, requiring lifelong, multidisciplinary care, including neurosurgery for shunts to manage fluid.
Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland seeks to increase public awareness and understanding of individuals with spina bifida and / or hydrocephalus. It aims to support all those affected to identify their needs and to empower them to make informed choices and decisions. This incredible charity was able to provide my family with all the information they could have needed when I was first diagnosed as a baby and provide as much support as needed.
On Sunday, 26th April 2026 I will be running the TCS London Marathon in aide of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBHS).
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. If you can donate, I would be extremely grateful.
