I am delighted to once again join Team Royal Surrey Charity Riders, to support a hospital that has treated several of my family over the years.

This year, two generations of Stafford will be taking to the course as I am joined by my daughter, Susannah.

For the past two years, my wife Caroline and I dedicated our ride to Susannah's grandfather, Howard, and our wonderful friend, Victoria. Susannah and I would like to continue this and dedicate our efforts this year to them once again. Their strength through repeated rounds of chemotherapy inspires us to support a charity that is making a real difference to the lives of patients and their families.

"We are raising money for the new Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.

This brand new state of the art surgical centre, will increase patient capacity by 7000 each year and adapt and streamline working practices.

Our expert surgeons will be able to perform even more complex operations by using the latest in robotic technology, meaning that procedures can be performed quicker and less invasive and a larger percentage of patients can be discharged same day to the comfort of their own homes to recover.

The Royal Surrey Hospital will be an outstanding surgical centre that other hospitals will aspire to as it creates an environment that is fit for the future.
