MY TASK:

I had decided to run a marathon next year as a challenge for me as I have reached 50 years old. I have never run a marathon before and will not only be attempting to do couch to marathon in 8 months but will attempt 2 marathons less than 2 weeks apart.

MY PERSONAL MOTIVATION:

As mentioned above, age and challenge setting, but also a good friend of mine whom I got to know well and we started playing music together as well as going out with our partners and doing various activities. Suddenly started getting a crippling bad back. After a while he was diagnosed with terminal cancer after falling and breaking his leg, as a result of the cancer eating through his bones. It had already spread throughout his body and his passing from this point was weeks. This all happened towards the tail end of the covid 19 pandemic and when hospitalised and bed bound with a broken leg that wouldn’t now heal was only allowed to be visited by his partner. Knowing he was going to die soon was heartbreaking for everyone as he so much wanted a chance to say goodbye and see everyone, one last time.

He, after pleading with the different powers of control was able to get a place in 7 Hospice. Here he was looked after very well with around the clock care and allowed as many visitors as practically possible. He was even able to say goodbye to his dog. This period of a few weeks was absolutely invaluable and help to garner some acceptance and understanding and made his eventual passing a little less unexplainable and painful.

Paul showed such great bravery and courage in the strength of such adversity. He still stayed strong for everyone else with and outward look of such great calmness and acceptance.

His last wish was to sell guitars and paintings and other stuff he had created and collected to try to raise money for the hospice.

I would now like your help like to try and raise a little more money by attempting to raise £2000 for Hospice UK, to further enhance his dying wish to me.

I will use this challenge to try also to show some strength and courage to meet these 2 challenges.

Anything you could given like a one off donation of £200 or £100, ora personal sponsor of what ever you can afford £50, £20, £10 or £5 to help me to my target would be greatly appreciated.
