Story
I'm fundraising for the brilliant charity Young Lives Vs Cancer in support of my friend Chris Rodney and his daughter Olivia. Chris has raised so much in the past 5 years so others would have the support he and the family received that I wanted to do my part too.
Here is his story,
'In January 2020, our world was turned upside down when my 7 Year old daughter Olivia went into hospital for a routine appendix removal, shortly after my wife and myself were given the news that the appendix was fine and that she has Burkitts lymphoma a large mass which was growing fast in her stomach. After being transferred to Addenbrookes for full diagnosis then being told the news our lifes would change forever, 6 months of chemotherapy on then Olivia got to ring the bell to signal the end of treatment ... but seeing not just Olivia but other children on this ward has opened my eyes to this horrible disease and I feel I need to give something back! Young Lives vs Cancer were there for the whole family and helped by having someone there to talk to when things got tough.
I am always up for a challenge! I have recently supported Young Lives vs Cancer in several challenges, including the Pauls house to Paris ride and the London to Brighton cycle event '
Our bespoke Pisa to Rome tour is a unique charity challenge event, travelling 290 miles and climbing 20,000ft.
Each mile covered, and story shared brings us closer to a future where children and young people facing cancer get the right support at the right time.
How your donations help:
£10 could re-stock the kitchen cupboards at a Home from Home
£26 could fund an hour of support from a Young Lives vs Cancer specialist social worker
£54 could fund 3 days worth of power at a Home from Home, ensuring families have the light and comfort they need
£100 could provide a financial grant for young people and families to cope with the immediate costs of cancer and meet additional expenses like travel, food or household bills so they can focus on getting through treatment.
£251 could cover a hardship grant for families who are struggling financially and faced with unexpected costs. A grant eases the financial burden so they can focus on being there for their child.
