Running for Florence Nightingale Foundation — Why It Matters
Every stride (c. 14,000) I take in the Southampton Half Marathon represents a nurse or midwife stepping into their leadership potential. The Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) exists to develop the next generation of nursing and midwifery leaders — people who will shape safer, more compassionate healthcare for patients across the UK and beyond. In a system under enormous pressure, great leadership is critical.
FNF provides leadership scholarships and programmes that simply wouldn’t exist without charitable support. Running this race is my way of investing in that mission — and in the thousands of patients who benefit when nursing and midwifery leadership is at its very best.
I havent run a full or half marathon for 3 years, so I need all the encouragement I can get. If successful in the London Marathon public ballot I shall also run to raise funds for FNF! Wish me luck and thank you for giving. Greta
