Spartans fundraiser for Garden House Hospice

Brighton Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
Hi, my name is Abdul, and I’m reaching out to you with a deeply personal story. Our group is raising funds and awareness for the Garden House Hospice care, a place that has been a lifeline for our loved ones in their final days.
This charity is especially close to my heart because it was where my sister spent her last moments. In those precious final hours, the staff gave her a comfort and dignity I could never have imagined. They weren't just nurses or volunteers—they were angels, quietly holding our hands and guiding us through the hardest time of our lives. They helped my sister feel peaceful, and in doing so, they gave our family something priceless: the knowledge that she was cared for, even as we said goodbye.
Hi name is Ami Rahman, and supporting Garden House Hospice Care holds a very special place in my heart. The remarkable work they do—particularly in supporting individuals and families during their most challenging times—has touched me deeply, especially as I have witnessed firsthand the difference they’ve made in the lives of those closest to me. Their compassion, care, and commitment to others resonate strongly with my own values and life’s purpose.
I have always believed in the profound importance of giving back, especially to those who are making a tangible, positive impact in our community. Garden House Hospice Care embodies this mission perfectly. It is not just about providing support to those in need, but about offering dignity, comfort, and peace during times when it matters most. This belief in helping others is woven into the very fabric of who I am, and it has been shaped and reinforced through my own spiritual journey. I believe that we are all connected, and to truly live a meaningful life, we must serve and support one another.
I am deeply committed to leading by example for my children—my daughter, my two sons, and my nieces and nephews. I want them to understand the importance of compassion, empathy, and generosity. I hope to show them how even small acts of kindness can have a far-reaching impact in the world. It is not just about giving material things, but about offering our time, our hearts, and our understanding to those who need it most.
Supporting Garden House Hospice Care is not just a cause I care about; it’s a way for me to live out the values I hold dear. I truly believe that initiatives like this are crucial in fostering a world where kindness, compassion, and community support are central. Through their work, Garden House Hospice Care has shown me the incredible difference one organization can make in the lives of those facing life’s most difficult challenges. I am honored to contribute in any way I can and will continue to support this vital cause with all my heart.
Over the past few years, I have participated in various charity events to raise awareness and funds for causes close to my heart. On April 25, I will be running a marathon to benefit Garden House Hospice Care and will be collecting donations to help support their mission. I urge you to please consider donating to this worthy cause. Your contribution can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need of compassionate care. One day, it could be you or a loved one who relies on the services Garden House provides, and we all deserve the best care possible during our most difficult moments.
Hi, my name is Danielle, and I’m raising awareness and funds for Garden House Hospice — a charity my Nan loved and supported, and one that holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
The journey so far:
We started with a 5k, then pushed to 10, with obstacles, ice plunges and electric wires along the way.
Next, we took on Scotland’s 15k, navigational lessons, waterfalls, and forging incredible bonds.
A half marathon came next, with just three weeks of training — and the team grew.
Then came Spartan 21k, where we pushed ourselves to the limit.
And most recently, an emotional 100-mile bike ride, cross country to Portsmouth, dedicated to Nan.
Brighton Marathon 2025 is next.
Each time, we train harder, supporting one another through every obstacle and celebrating every accomplishment.
People often ask, “Why?” Well, here’s my why.
At the ages of 6 and 8, my children, Libby and Tom, lost their dad, Paul Martin, to a brain tumour.
This year marks ten years. Libby turns 18, and Tom has just turned 16. As they reach their milestones your legacy remains strong.
Your children draw strength from their memories.
I hope and pray that wherever Paul is, he can see how far they’ve come and all they’ve achieved. I know he would be incredibly proud of the young adults they’ve become. Their strength, humility, love, & resilience are a testament to all of us.
So, why do I keep pushing myself, my team, every year? Because I am the lucky one who has the opportunity to watch them grow and thrive with the most amazing support network.
We trust that by doing this we can give a little something back, just as the Garden House Hospice gave to so many that we love.
The Garden House Hospice doesn’t just provide medical care—they provide emotional and spiritual support. They make the unbearable a little more bearable, and their efforts go beyond what words can express. The love and care they offer is given without expectation of anything in return. The staff & volunteers who make this possible are a rare breed, and their kindness is truly extraordinary.
But this care doesn’t come without cost. The building, the equipment, the ongoing support—all of it needs to be funded. That's why we are doing everything we can to raise awareness and funds for this incredible charity, to ensure other families can experience the same comfort and peace we did. One day, it might be someone you love who needs this kind of care. Or perhaps, one day, it might be you. The fact that such charities exist—people who will hold your hand in your most vulnerable moment—is something we can never take for granted.
We’ve participated in numerous events over the past few years to support this cause, and now, we’ve built up the strength to run a marathon this April. We’re asking for your help to keep this beautiful charity going, to ensure that others can experience the same love and dignity we did.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. Please, from the bottom of my heart, consider giving to this amazing cause. Thank you.
