Founded originally as Blackburn Orphanage over 130 years ago. Our mission is to support children, adults and families across the country, ensuring that when life presents difficult circumstances we’re there every step of the way to make sure they get the support they need.

Story

For the past eight months, I’ve had the privilege of working at CANW, and every single day I’m inspired by the incredible impact we make on the lives of children, families, and vulnerable adults. What sets CANW apart is the breadth of our work—not just here in the Northwest but reaching communities across the country. We support children in care, nurture emotional health and wellbeing, and guide young people who find themselves entangled in the criminal justice system.

What truly amazes me is the unwavering dedication and passion of our team. They transform challenges into opportunities, empowering children and families to create brighter, more hopeful futures. It’s this commitment that drives me to be a part of something so special.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, however, our ability to grow and enhance our services is often limited by funding. That’s why I’m passionate about raising money for our brand-new residential home. This new home will provide a safe and nurturing environment for three children with nowhere else to turn.

Every penny raised will go toward the Residential Home including things like crafting a beautiful garden—a space where these children can connect with nature, cultivate a sense of wonder, and find peace. It’s not just about creating a garden; it’s about giving them a space to grow, to heal, and to rediscover joy. Together, we can help make this vision a reality.
