Story
1,250 Miles in 18 Days — For less fortunate Children Who Have Never Had a Holiday
Greg’s Charity Ultramarathon Challenge
August 2026
Greg is undertaking one of the most demanding charity endurance challenges imaginable:
A 1,250-mile (2,000 km) self-supported ultramarathon from Łódź, Poland, to Skegness, United Kingdom, passing through:
Poland → Germany → Netherlands → Belgium → France → United Kingdom
in just 18 days and nights.
This is not a race.
This is a mission to help children who have experienced hardship most of their young lives.
THE PURPOSE
This challenge is being run to raise funds and awareness for children who have never had the chance to experience a proper holiday.
Funds raised will directly support:
(Children’s Home) in Łódź, Poland
Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Home in Skegness, UK
These organisations provide vulnerable children — many from traumatic or unstable backgrounds — with something most take for granted:
a safe, positive, and unforgettable first holiday experience.
For some of these children, it will be their first time seeing the sea, the countryside, or simply feeling safe away from hardship.
THE CHALLENGE
Greg will be running:
Approximately 65-75 miles per day
For 17/ 18 consecutive days
Across five countries .From Poland → Germany → Netherlands → Belgium → France → Skegness in United Kingdom
No support team, no pre-planned assistance. So no Hotels, food, no money or any other payment options. This journey depends entirely on the generosity and humanity of the people Greg meets along the way .
There will be no pre-arranged support before the start of the challenge. After the run begins and the route is public, supporters will be able to help from a distance by funding food and overnight stays along the route.
Managing sleep, recovery, and navigation while in constant motion.
This challenge pushes the limits of physical and mental endurance.
Fatigue, injury risk, sleep deprivation, and extreme exhaustion are expected realities — not exceptions.
Every single day will be a battle:
“Can I take one more step?”
WHY THIS MATTERS
Poland is where I was born and Britain is where I have spent most of my adult life. Supporting children in both countries is my way of showing that kindness does not stop at national borders.
This is my way of giving something back to the communities that have shaped my life and helping children who deserve the chance of a better future, wherever they happen to have been born."
Across the UK and Poland, there are thousands of children who:
Have lost parents through tragedy or crisis
Live in unsafe or unstable environments
Have been placed into care with very little personal belonging
Have never experienced a real holiday or time away from hardship
Some children arrive in care with nothing more than a plastic bag of belongings.
Others grow up without ever seeing the sea, mountains, or countryside beyond their immediate surroundings.
This project exists to change that — even for a moment.
WHAT YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS
Every donation contributes directly to:
Holiday experiences for vulnerable children
Safe accommodation and structured care programmes
Clothing, toys, and basic essentials
Transport and activity funding for holiday breaks
Creating memories that many children have never had the chance to experience
Even a small donation can help provide a child with a moment they will never forget.
UK & POLAND — ONE SHARED CAUSE
This is a cross-border initiative supported by communities in both the UK and Poland.
Geography does not divide compassion.
WHY GREG IS DOING THIS
Greg has previously undertaken extreme endurance and charitable challenges, including long-distance runs and high-altitude expeditions, always with one purpose:
to support people in need through action, not words.
This challenge is the most ambitious to date — and entirely dedicated to children who deserve a better start in life.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE
This is a fully committed endurance challenge.
Greg will be running with limited external support, relying on human kindness along the route for food, rest, and basic necessities where needed.
YOU CAN BE PART OF THIS JOURNEY
You do not need to run 1,250 miles.
You only need to help make each mile count.
Every contribution, large or small, helps turn this challenge into real impact for children who need it most.
ONE MESSAGE
Poland + United Kingdom = One mission
