Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Solihull Down Syndrome Group is a parent led charity that supports families and carers with children and young people with Down Syndrome.

When Arabella was born our world as a family was turned upside down, we didn't know anything about Down Syndrome we just knew that we was given a beautiful daughter that was going to need so much more love, patience and care. Even in this day in age, so many resources including the language we use and outdated staff knowledge of Down Syndrome, makes having a baby with Down Syndrome overshadowed with a dark cloud instead of a congratulations. We were told about our local charity group and was instantly greeted with those words Congratulations she is beautiful!

SDSG is a charity, families can lean on as they have walked the path you are taking and can offer you love, support and a simple smile to know that everything is going to be ok. They help with therapy when the NHS has undated waiting lists, they help with carers to get the rest and support they need the list is endless but in order to keep supporting families they need the funds to do so.

George Swim Academy (GSA) has volunteered themselves to swim the English Channel to raise those all important funds, the medicals are complete, the pilot has been booked and the paperwork is underway along with the training. So what they need from us is to get behind them by raising as much funds as possible.

Arabella has swimming lessons with George every week, he has taught her so much and i believe she will be swimming unaided by the summer. The love they have for each other is beautiful to see so for George to do this for Arabella and SDSG i will be forever grateful.

The English Channel is 21 miles, it is not easy conditions so will need mental and physical strength. We know they can do it, so lets show as much love and raise funds to show how much we are supporting them for SDSG.

George, Emily, Harrison, Jordan, Victoria & Lianne, we wish you all the luck and we are with you all the way supporting and cheering you on.

All our love

Ann-Marie & Arabella.
