Who are we?

Established in 1867, Glasgow University Boat Club (GUBC) is one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the university. We are also one of the largest!

GUBC competes all across the country, from our local River Clyde to Henley-On-Thames. In the last year, we have had many great successes, winning medals at both BUCS Head and BUCS Regatta, as well as having two of our members attain GB vests last summer.

What are we doing?

We are going to be rowing on the river Clyde, in eights, the distance around the British Isles, stopping off at the hometowns of as many of our rowers as we can. We will be rowing over 1800km as well as hosting a BBQ for anyone who comes along to watch or take part.

What are we trying to fundraise for?

Thanks to our past donors we have been able to afford some top boats for the upper end of the squad, however, there is a significant drop-off between our top boats and our second boats. We are aiming to fill this gap by buying a new coxed four however this will cost around £20,000. Hitting this target would provide a great shell for our second and beginner crews to use for racing next season.

We have also been lucky in recent months to have the support of a third part-time coach who has been a fantastic addition to the coaching team at GUBC. Some of the money raised will go towards ensuring we can continue to have this support through the summer and into next year, allowing for the club's program to continue to grow.

We would also like to assign some of the funds raised to a 'Henley fund'. This money will help our athletes pay the ever-increasing cost of racing. As a club, we want to ensure that money is never a barrier to racing and so we will be aiming to raise money that will reduce the cost of summer racing and hopefully allow us to send more crews to Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta.
