Story
On April 13th, I’m shaving my head.
The hair that I’ll lose was with me when my third child was born. It has travelled with me through 22 countries as I spoke with hundreds of children and families who live very differently from me. It grew from my head as I listened and learned. It accompanied me while I wrote a book and 22 articles on what I’ve learned (freely available at https://guenbradbury.substack.com/ ), and it has joined me in the eight podcasts I’ve recorded since.
Now, it’s giving me an excuse to raise money for the children from whom I’ve learned so much.
The money I raise from shaving my head will go to UNICEF, the United Nations’ Children’s Fund. It provides medicine, food, water, education, and protection, to help make a difference to the lives of children around the world.
My target is £514. This buys two water pumps for a school or community, providing essential clean, safe drinking water. I’ve drunk from many of these pumps, in compounds in the Gambia, in villages in Malawi, and I’ve seen firsthand the joy and excitement at their installation in a town in central Ghana. Having spent months drinking smoky boiled water and chlorine-pungent treated water, I know just how privileged we are to have access to fresh, clean water.
Will you help me by donating whatever you can spare to children around the world?
