Story

8-Hour Guitar-a-thon for Air Ambulance NI

On 9 April 2025, I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a genetic heart condition

I needed lifesaving CPR and urgent medical care, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful to the students and staff at SRC Banbridge who were there that day and played such an important part in helping me.

Air Ambulance Northern Ireland was then vital in getting me rapidly to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

I was incredibly fortunate to survive and make a good recovery.

On Saturday 21 November 2026, I'm going to use something that has always been a huge part of my life — music — to try to give something back.

I'll be holding an 8-Hour Guitar-a-thon at Buttercrane Shopping Centre in Newry, with guitar music running from 9am to 5pm.

I'll be joined throughout the day by other local guitarists, singers and musicians to help keep the music going.

You don't have to wait until the Guitar-a-thon to support it. You can donate through this page at any time in the lead-up to the event, on the day itself, or afterwards.

The aim is simple: Raise as much as we can for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland and help more people understand just how important this lifesaving service is.

Air Ambulance NI was there when I needed it most. If you can make a donation, no matter how big or small, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for supporting the Guitar-a-thon and Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
