Story
This will be my third marathon in memory of a stranger who became a dear friend.
Mansour came to the UK from Libya with his uncle Abdulrahman Hmeid and his brother Salah to seek treatment for blood cancer. After 11 months in the UK, enduring the painful, risky, and complicated process of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, Mansour was finally able to reunite with his family in Libya. His return brought immense joy to his loved ones, especially his four daughters, who were overjoyed to have him back. Sadly, their happiness was short-lived, and just four weeks after leaving the UK, Mansour passed away. "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
Mansour was a remarkably polite and humble man, who faced his battle against blood cancer with incredible patience, courage, and dignity. His passing, along with my encounters with other cancer patients, young and old, going through the ordeal of chemotherapy, has deeply affected me.
To honor Mansour’s memory and to support underprivileged cancer patients in Pakistan—patients who, unlike Mansour, often lack the means for treatment, whether locally or abroad—I have decided to run a marathon for Imran Khan's Cancer Appeal. Imran Khan has provided the infrastructure and platform through Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, the only cancer hospital in Pakistan that relies on charitable donations. This hospital plays a critical role in offering high-quality medical care to those who cannot afford it.
Please consider donating whatever you can to help relieve the suffering of these patients. Your support will not only be a tribute to Mansour but also a lifeline for many others in need.
Thank you for reading my story and for your generosity.
May Almighty God reward you abundantly.
