The Gurkha Salty Sappers - ATLANTIC 2026 - Royal Engineers Association

Joshua Warne is raising money for Royal Engineers Association

Team: The Gurkha Salty Sappers - ATLANTIC 2026 - Royal Engineers Association and The Gurkha Welfare Trust

Rowing the Atlantic Ocean · 12 December 2026

Established in 1912 the Royal Engineers Association (REA) is the charity for the British Army’s; bridge builders, bomb disposal operators, high risk searchers, divers, geospatial and construction specialists. Collectively these men and women are known as “Sappers”.

Story

In December 2026 a team of 4 Gurkha soldiers from The Queen's Gurkha Engineers will be rowing 3000 miles unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean, competing in the World's Toughest Row, Atlantic.

As the first citizens of Nepal to row any ocean, the team will be making history as they embark to take on one of the most challenging physical events in the world.

The team will endure harsh weather, high seas and sleep deprivation as they row non-stop in a 2hrs on 2hrs off routine from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.

In the process they will be raising money to support two amazing charities, the Royal Engineers Association (the Sapper Charity) and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Please help support this incredible endeavour.

With thanks,

The Gurkha Salty Sappers
