Guy & Neil's fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association

Land's End (IW) to Land's End Cornwall · 22 May 2025
Over 3 days in late May Neil McCall and I will be attempting to cycle from The Needles (Land’s End Isle of Wight) to Land’s End in Cornwall to raise funds for The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). Motor neurone disease (MND) is a rare condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system which leads to muscle weakness, often with visible wasting. At any one point in time this illness affects around 5000 people in the U.K. Unfortunately there is currently no cure but the help provided by the MNDA to those people suffering from this illness is invaluable. This challenge is extremely personal to us both as in July 2023 our good friend and all round decent chap, David Baker, was diagnosed with this awful condition. David has always been a positive person to be around and he hasn’t let this setback get in the way of continuing to enjoy life to the full, thanks in no small part to his wonderful wife Alice, an amazing family, friends and the support of the MNDA. This challenge won’t be easy, in fact it’s going to be extremely tough as the route we have chosen requires an average of 90/95 (ish) miles a day (provided we don’t get lost) as well as a number of very unpleasant climbs but there’d be no point doing it if it was easy would there? Despite the fact this is going to be hard it doesn’t even register on the scale of the tough things Dave and Alice are going through so we promise not to grumble and will just get on with it. If there’s any way you could spare a few bob to help us raise as much money as possible that would be amazing but even if you can’t please try and take time to read Dave and Alice’s blog - MND Can Get in The Sea https://mndcangetinthesea.blogspot.com/ Cheers all xx
