Story

Thank you for visiting Ellis page.

This year on Saturday 13th of July we are very excited to announce that we will once again be pushing ourselves with a large group of family and close friends to walk 18miles along the River Severn.

A little under 4 years ago Ellis was diagnosed with Autism which has impacted his life in many different ways with each day presenting a new challenge for him to overcome. Ellis has now been supported at Milestone School Since 2021 and we cannot wait to give back by way of fundraising for such an honourable cause. With the help of the School we have chosen this years route which will begin and end at Milestone. The route will take us from the school into town and around Gloucester Cathedral before making our way along the River Severn and back.

We have chosen "The Friends of The Milestone School" as our charity which is a Parent/Teacher Association & support mechanism for our community [registered charity no. 1173333].

The Friends charity was created to support The Milestone School, one of the largest special needs schools in the country and a designated Specialist School for Communication and Interaction. The school & associated charity aims to remove obstacles and enable access to learning with each child having an individual plan according to his or her very specific needs.

Situated in Longlevens, Gloucester, the school educates in excess of 330 pupils aged between 3 and 16 years from all over Gloucestershire. The pupils display any or all of the following; - Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD), Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), are on the Severe Autistic Spectrum (ASC), problems associated with Social Emotional Mental Health, Visual Impairment, Physical Disability or Epilepsy .

Developing life skills and as much independence as possible through personalised and appropriate support is as important as following a curriculum.

The Friends Charity acts not only as a fundraising body but also as an association to develop effective and positive relationships between the staff, parents and all others associated with the school.

With your support we hope to raise enough funds to enable the school to carry on providing creating and funding development projects which benefit the pupils & staff of the school including both indoor and outdoor areas.

Thank you so much

Guy and Emma
