We are moving further, faster to help everyone affected by a brain tumour

Story

Together we are raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity.

To do this, Claire will be participating in the Berlin Marathon 2024 in September and Heather will be undertaking various fundraising activities throughout the year.

In July 2023, just two days after retiring, our lovely Dad had an episode of expressive aphasia. It was a terrifying time for our family as we learned that it could be due to a diffuse Glioblastoma, a cancerous brain tumour. Seeking support and reliable information, we turned to the Brain Tumour Charity website. Unfortunately, the prognosis for such tumours is often poor due to the limited treatment options.

After undergoing tests and scans, Dad had a brain biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Eight weeks later, we anxiously sat in front of the Professor expecting bad news. To our immense relief and amazement, we were told that there was no brain tumour or cancer. Although we still don't know what caused the episode, we are incredibly grateful for this outcome.

This experience made us realise how different things could have been if the diagnosis had been confirmed. We want to raise money so that families who are not as fortunate as us can have hope, access to life prolonging treatments or a cure, and the opportunity to spend more time with their loved ones.

Please donate whatever you feel able to contribute to support us to achieve our target. Your donation will make a difference to the lives of people and families affected by brain tumours.
