Story
Hello! we're Maria, Charlotte, Hannah, Ben, Josh, Josh Tom, Amanda and Seb. We are all part of St Paul's & St Barnabas church in Surrey. Our first aim was to raise £6,000 for a group volunteering project with the charity Hope4Malawi, but with the help and kindness of everyone who has donated we have decided to increase this goal to £10,000
Malawi is one of the worlds least developed countries with 75% of the country surviving on just £2 a day and more than 10% regularly going short with food.
Hope4Malawi aims to change the life of young people by partnering with government run primary and secondary schools to improve teaching and learning environments. Additionally, they partner with Hope4Development to provide a local skills centre to enable local people to receive additional education and training to help them thrive in the workforce.
The of 9 of us have the most amazing opportunity to travel to Blantyre on the 20th June - 9th July 2025 to participate in many different volunteering activities. We will be able to teach young children and work with the local Malawians in primary and secondary schools, running holiday clubs and aiding in farming and the building of stoves. We also get the opportunity to help out in the skills centre to provide students with the vital skills to prepare them for work.
This page is dedicated to raising money for the specific projects listed below:
- Building and kitting out a chicken coup for 25 chickens - £1,500
- A pack of washable sanitary towels for 200 girls and training them how to use them - £2000
- Planting 200 trees - £200
- 4 students to have a year on the youth development programme - £1,600
- 45 children's breakfasts in the feeding programme for a year - £675
To raise awareness and funds for the Hope4malawi charity we will be organising a number of bake sales here at St Paul's and walking the Surrey 3 Peaks Hike on the 17th April an encourage you to join us to show your support!
We have also created an Instagram account to document and allow you to follow us along on this amazing journey @H4M_2025
