Story
Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.
We are Holly and Abbie, two sisters from the Thompson clan, and we have decided to take on the challenge of climbing Mount Toubkal while fundraising £5,000 for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, in loving honour of our mum, Sharon.
Clatterbridge will always hold a very special place in our hearts. The kindness, compassion and exceptional care they showed while treating our mum is something our family will never forget. Mum was diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer mid-2025, and after a short but incredibly brave battle, we sadly lost her at the beginning of December.
Mum was kind, thoughtful and completely selfless. She was the type of person who would do anything for anyone without hesitation. If we can show even a small glimpse of the strength and courage she embodied, then we will be incredibly proud. In the final weeks of her fight, Mum’s unknowing words were never about herself, but focused on encouraging us her children, Holly, Abbie, Rhys and Ella, and her husband, Peter, to live our lives fully and make her proud. Taking on this adventure feels like a meaningful way to honour her spirit and carry her words with us.
We truly could not have wished for a kinder place for Mum to have been treated. From the incredible staff to the outstanding level of care she received, Clatterbridge supported not only Mum but our whole family during some of the toughest times of our lives so far. We are fundraising to give back to this amazing charity and would encourage anyone who can to support them to do so, in the hopes they can continue to provide the same compassion and care to other families facing similar journeys.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity — it truly means the world to us.
