Story
Hello, I'm Hajira Piranie.
In 2019, I experienced a devastating pregnancy loss that led to Sepsis – a life-threatening condition that develops when the body’s response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs.
My Sepsis progressed rapidly and resulted in ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). I underwent multiple surgeries, had chest drains, and spent a prolonged time on a ventilator in intensive care. When I finally began to recover, I had to face the unimaginable – I had to learn how to walk again.

Recovery was long & painful. But I didn't have to face it alone. The UK Sepsis Trust was there for me - through their literature and community support, they helped me understand what I’d been through and gave me the strength to move forward.
Sepsis kills 48,000 people in the UK every year — that’s more than breast, bowel, and prostate cancer combined. It can start with symptoms that seem like flu or a mild infection, but it can escalate in hours. Early recognition saves lives, which is why awareness is everything.
Now, the girl who had to relearn how to walk is training to run the 2026 London Marathon.
It won't be easy. But I’m doing this for every survivor, for every person fighting to recover, and in memory of every life lost to this silent killer.
Please donate if you can, share my story, & help raise awareness to save lives.
Thank you so much for your support.
