Story
As some of you may know, my wonderful pal Ash’s little sister Hannah was diagnosed with cancer late last year. The diagnosis came as a huge surprise to everyone, and the family have spent the time since then trying to understand and process it all. Genuinely, I don’t know how you’ve managed to handle this with such strength so far.
For anyone who hasn’t had the absolute pleasure of meeting Hannah, she is one of the funniest, most confident, ray-of-sunshine humans you could ever meet. To say she is inspiring is nothing short of an understatement, and I know I’m not alone in being completely in awe of the way she’s approaching this next stage of treatment with absolute boss energy.
To play a very small part in all of this, I’m running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, an organisation that has helped and supported Hannah and the whole family through everything so far.
I won’t be doing this alone either. I’ll be running it alongside my lovely dad who, at 61, has recently beaten cancer himself. So being able to do this with him makes it feel that extra bit special to me.
That said, please don’t let this information fool you into thinking he needs the encouragement more than I do. On his first run he smashed out 8K with no breaks and barely broke a sweat. So if you have spare thoughts and well wishes, please direct them to the person who genuinely needs them… me.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, no matter how small, it would mean a huge amount if you could do so!
A massive thank you for any support, any donations, and for reading all the way to the end.
