AJ Bell Great Manchester Run Half Marathon 2025 · 18 May 2025 ·

More than 60,000 peolpe suffer a sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital in England each year and less than one in ten survive. Being able to use a defibrillator within the first ten minutes dramatically improves the chances of survival. Please help us raise funds to make more defibs available.

Story

Jack, Braden, Gerry and Sam will be running the AJ Bell Greater Manchester Half Marathon on 18 May 2025 for The Tom Henson Charity.

In 2018, Tom died playing football aged 23 from a cardiac arrest caused by an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. The Tom Henson Charity was set up in his memory by his family.

Tom was a great friend to us all and we've all been keen to contribute towards raising funds for the charity and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Nicki, Shaun, Joe and Tom's family and friends have done incredible work raising money to purchase, fit and maintain 25 publicly accessible defibrillators, some of which have been funded directly by groups/companies. The charity have also donated 6 defibrillators to Community Frist Responder groups and maintain a further 6 (soon to be 7) at other private locations. 36 of the soon to be 38 defibrillators are local to the Bolsover, Chesterfield or Mansfield area (two in Hereford).

Any donations for this worthy cause would be gratefully received. Jack, Braden and Gerry will be running the AJ Bell Greater Manchester Half Marathon, whereas Sam will be running the Shakespeare Marathon and the AJ Bell Half Marathon on behalf of the Tom Henson Charity and James' Place.
