Story
Hi, we’re Jason Chiang and Will Hagger, and on June 29th we’re running the Victoria Park Half Marathon to raise money for The Winchester Beacon, a local night shelter supporting people experiencing homelessness in Winchester.
As students in Winchester, this cause is close to our hearts. Jason volunteers weekly at the shelter, and therefore we have both seen how vital and amazing the shelter’s work is. The Beacon currently houses 22 individuals, offering them not just meals and a place to stay but the long-term support that can help them escape homelessness. With your help, we hope to raise funds that will support those residents — and thereby help extend that opportunity to hundreds more still living on the streets.
Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for your support.
A bit about The Winchester Beacon:
The Winchester Beacon (formerly known as Winchester Churches Nightshelter) has been helping people experiencing homelessness in Hampshire for over 30 years. As well as being a safe place to stay, the charity provides personalised one-to-one support to residents to help them rebuild their lives and escape homelessness for good.
